Billie Eilish is an American singer-songwriter who was born in Los Angeles, California, on December 18, 2001. Her song "Ocean Eyes" brought her fame in 2015, and she became the youngest person to win an album of the year Grammy in 2020.
Eilish's parents decided to teach their kids at home and encourage them to pursue talents outside of the standard education system after being inspired by the 90s pop band Hanson, which was founded by a trio of homeschooled brothers from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Eilish participated in the Los Angeles Children's Chorus and tried her hand at dancing, singing, and horseback riding when she was younger. Eilish was asked to sing "Ocean Eyes," a song he had written and recorded for his band at the time and later posted online, in 2015 by Finneas Baird O'Connell, better known online as FINNEAS. After the song became popular immediately, Eilish signed to the exclusive label Darkroom in the summer of 2016.

August 2017 saw the publication by Darkroom of Eilish's eight-song EP, Don't Smile at Me, which was written by FINNEAS and Eilish. In December 2017, the EP was reissued with an additional bonus track; two more new tracks were added in subsequent reissues. On March 29, 2019, she released her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, which peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? was named album of the year, and the song "Bad Guy," which is off the album, became Eilish's first number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 list. The song also won Grammys in 2020 for song of the year and record of the year. The song "Everything I Wanted," which Eilish also released in 2019, went on to win the Grammy for record of the year. Happier than Ever, Eilish's second studio album, was released later that year. It was praised for its honest songs, many of which touched with the negative aspects of being a superstar.
