Born in the Bronx, New York, on July 24, 1969, Jennifer Lopez is an American actress and musician. She started her career in movies in the late 1980s and rose to prominence as one of the highest-paid Latina actresses in Hollywood history. Later, she achieved crossover success in the music business with several pop records and became Jennifer Lopez is one of the World's 50 Most Popular Celebrities for 2023.
Lopez, who was raised by Puerto Rican parents and took dance classes as a child,
dreamed of becoming famous from a young age. She traveled the world performing
in musical theater, and at the age of sixteen, she landed a small part in the 1986 film
My Little Girl. She made her television debut in 1990 when she was chosen to be
one of the dancers known as the "Fly Girls" for the comedy series In Living Color.
