YouTube's New Transparency In App Tracking Soon To Inquire Whether iOS Users Want Customized Ads

With the release of iOS 14.5, tech behemoth Apple made developers notify consumers that they had an opt-in if they wanted to find them. However, in 2021, Google stopped allowing some types of tracking for compliance in all of its apps and removed the question entirely.

The most recent development on this issue is that the well-known video-sharing platform YouTube is reintroducing the ATT prompt, asking users to consent to targeted tracking for advertising before implementing it.

The application described its plans to use YouTube's one-time permission function, which will allow users to "allow" the site to track their activities through two options.

The first one, "Allow," indicates that, if chosen, all app activity will be connected to pages and platforms that are not owned by Google in order to display personal advertisements and enable ad measurements. When enabled, the user's choice would be applicable to everything on the app.

The second option is "Ask App Not to Track," which means that no activity linked through non-Google platforms and pages will be used for measurements and tailored ad distribution if the setting is left off. As a result, relevant advertisements would appear less frequently and would repeat more frequently than unrelated ads.

Premium members won't get these reminders, and users with child accounts on the app won't see them either.

The platform states that customers would anticipate seeing higher-quality, more beneficial advertisements when they select "Allow." For example, the advertisements that appear on the app might more accurately reflect their values or interests.

However, the app claims that all iPhone and iPad users will soon have access to this capability, which will allow them to be followed in a more advanced way that is more in line with their interests and advantageous to the corporation.

Additionally, the user has the option to disable this feature at any time by selecting the privacy and security tracking tabs in their settings.

We do not see any way that this setting might affect the way that user activity is linked from Google and its associated pages to other apps, thus we will definitely embrace it. How do you feel?
